Romano is a Long Island native from Smithtown. Romano is still young only being at 21 was playing in the OHL for the Peterborough Petes. He put up good numbers last year recording 36 goals and 33 assist for total of 69 points in 65 games.
Mike Komisarek wants up to five million a year. I do not see the Islanders paying him that. I really can not see any team paying that price.
I wish the Islanders went out and signed a huge name like the Sedins or any other big name. Personally I love Mike Cammalleri. He put up 39 goals for the Flames. I would not expect those numbers but at least 30 is a good number. Will the Islanders go out tomorrow and make a huge offer to a top name, who knows ? The chances are very slim though. In another year or two I could see the Isles going out and signing a huge name. But is one big name going to make us a playoff team. I don’t think so and I don’t think the Islanders do also.

On my old site ( savetheisles.webs.com ) I made a post about how hockeybuzz.com has gone crazy. They just make up fake rumors and the sad part is that people believe it. So far hockeybuzz has the Islanders trying to get the Sedin brothers and also many top free agents. He also said that we have major interest in Vinny Lecavalier and also Mike Cammalleri from the Flames. What else is next the Islanders going to trade Tavares. Please hockeybuzz just shut up and stop leading false information.

The Lighthouse got some good news today. Sen. Charles Schumer fully supports the project. He intends to add federal money to help build the project. Some of the money could be used to help transportation, a potential problem. This is another small step forward and now another important member is now supporting the project. To see whole article here is the link.

With the draft done and free agency about to start, the future looks bright for the Islanders. With Kyle Okposo hopefully becoming a 35-40 goal scorer and now John Tavares also putting up a serious amount of goals. The future looks bright. With Mark Streit putting up 55+ points and Josh Bailey making progress as years go bye. Down the line or maybe a slim this year we might see Calvin de Haan as an Islander. With Okposo and now Tavares people might forget about Frans Nielson or Blake Comeau. I really do not see Comeau becoming a major threat offensively but a nice player that could drill people.

S0 what should we expect this year from the Islanders. I would say a better year but far from the playoffs. We are still to young and do not have enough players to get it done. But for now we could just focus on John Tavares and free agency on Wed.
Coming soon - what to expect in free agency for the Islanders

In a recent interview Calvin de Haan said he wants to play in the NHL this year.
Q. Do you have any anticipation about next year, do you see yourself playing junior again?
CALVIN DE HAAN: I would like to play in the NHL right away, that would be obviously a dream come true, but I don’t think another year or two in junior, it wouldn’t hurt my development at all. I actually wouldn’t mind playing in Oshawa again.

I think the right thing and the best thing to do is let Calvin play in juniors this year. Let him get stronger and work on his play. There is no reason why the Islanders have to rush him.
Also Chris Botta from islanderspointblank reported that recent draft pick Mikko ( 31st overall ) might play for Bridgeport this upcoming season. It does not seem like Peter Mannino is returning and Koskinen might take his place.
