Today our New York Islanders lost to Chris Campoli and the Ottawa Senators 2-1 in a shoot-out. Here are some of my notes from the game:
Roloson played very well in regulation but what happen in the shoot-out??? He made a nice save in pd 2 I believe robbing the hottest Senator of late Ryan Shannon.
The refs were less then stellar as usual, how was Carkner not given something worse for punching Jackman in the face 3X? And that ended up sending Jackman to the hospital with an eye injury. I have a feeling based off how he reacted Billy Jaffe will be putting in a call to Toronto tonight or tomorrow.
Nice goal by Schremp
What a hit by Sutton!! Well he did it again! After Neil delivered a big hit to McDonald early on at about the 13:00 minute mark Andy Sutton absolutley rocked Nick Foglino! If I am able to find it on youtube I will post it here.
If you have anything to add post in comments

Today our New York Islanders will be paying a visit to Chris Campoli and the Ottawa Senators. The game starts at seven on MSG +. Expect a relatively similar lineup to that which you have been seeing. The only major alteration being Doug Weight is back according to Chris Botta. So hopefully he can help our joke of a powerplay. The Senators are missing both Daniel Alfreddson and Jason Spezza so hopefully we will be able to take advantage of this and get a win to end 2009 off right. I am not sure you all know but if we win tonight and the Rangers lose we finish ahead of them in the standings to close out the year.

Today in front of a crowd of about 12,000 the Islanders defeated the Blue Jackets 2-1 in a shootout. Here are some of my notes from the game:
-Roli played really well!
-We played like crap in the second and third period and miraculously we managed not only to get a point we got the win! We got lucky tonight because not only did we not deserve the point we didn’t deserve the win.
-The refs were less then stellar as usual
-Sutton rocked Umberger as Botta said it woke the Coliseum up. If you haven’t seen it, it is similar to the hit he put on Ryan Callahan in the pre-season a couple years ago. He drew a penalty after it when someone challenged him to a fight and he didn’t drop the gloves
-Our powerplay remains the joke of the NHL! We couldn’t keep possession when we had a 5-3. We had a 2 man adv. and yet we still couldn’t do anything. I was happy when I saw Gordo start switching up the lines which IMO is about 15 games overdue
-Nice seeing the vet and his girlfriend get engaged just three days before he gets deployed again. Our prayers are with him and everyone else overseas defending our country.
-It was great to see Gordie Howe at the game but for some reason instead of giving him the ovation he deserves he was given about a 5 second ovation because he was introduced on the scoreboard then right away the play started again.
-It was nice seeing Jiggs McDonald back at the Coliseum broadcasting. I heard he will be here for the next 4 games including tonight.

I guess were going on borrowed time now because I thought the site wouldve been done by now. But anyway…
Tonight Rick Nash and the Columbus Blue Jackets will be paying a visit to the Nassau Coliseum to face Kyle Okposo and the New York Islanders. Expect the same lineup as the last few games except Jeff Tambellini will be dressing tonight most like in place of Rob Schremp according to Chris Botta. Also Roloson gets the nod in net tonight.

Well tonight before a modest crowd of about 12,000 the Isles once again lost to the Flyers. Here are my notes from the game:
-Our powerplay remains the joke of the NHL!! It is just plain awful!!!
-Chris Pronger remains the biggest dirtbag in hockey! He boarded 2 people tonight 1 which left Hunter shaken up and for some reason it was called a minor. Why it wasn’t a major is beyond me. Last time I checked boarding penalties that result in some type of injury result in game misconducts. For some reason the refs forgot the rulebook when it came to Pronger.
-The refs were just plain awful as well as inconsistent. I would love for game for Gordon to go crazy on a ref and show them that they won’t be able to s*rew us like they have done time and time again. It is verging on ridiculous!
-Sutton played pretty good, was happy to see him ready and willing to step up for teammates (IE Hunter)
-Biron once again gets no support on the offensive side dropping his record to 2-11-and something (Ouch)
If you have anything to add post it in comments

Tonight from the Old barn in Hempstead Kyle Okposo and our New York Islanders will play host to Mike Richards and the Flyers. Expect the same lineup as last night for the Islanders except Marty Biron is in net per newsdays Katie Strangs twitter account. Below is the Flyers lineup according to Bill Meltzer from hockeybuzz:
Hartnell - Carter - Briere
Gagne- Richards- Giroux
JVR - Powe - Asham
Carcillo - Betts - Laperriere
Coburn - Pronger
Carle - Timonen
Bartulis - Syvret
Leighton
[Boucher]
Boucher rec’d a lacerated finger early last week and hasn’t played recently which is why Leighton is listed as the starter. I wonder if we will see a fight-fest like we did last March when these teams went at it 4 different times. Hopefully we will be able to beat the Flyers for the first time in what feels like ever and keep the momentum going.

Below is a link to a newsday story doing a follow up on the SMG Islanders lease situation. Here are some of my thoughts:
1) We found out the value of the lease which is 17 million dollars. According to the article if the Isles pay SMG 3.4 million per yr in rent plus other fees. If the lease is broken for whatever reason the Isles would need to pay SMG the remaining value of the lease.
2) I don’t like that the Isles are able to leave now however according to the article if they break the lease then they have to pay SMG the remainder of the rent on the lease. The county must approve a move according to the article. That is good considering I am hard pressed seeing them approve a move knowing how much revenue they would lose. I have heard in excess of 2 million! How would Mr no taxes Mangano fix that?
3) It is good to see that the Isles get all revenue from there including parking and concessions. However SMG still handles day to day activity. That is ashame because IMO there security is bad!

Tonight from Madison Square Garden Kyle Okposo and the Islanders defeated the Rangers 3-2 in OT. Here are some of my notes from the game:
KO played fing amazing!! That move on Comeaus shorty was awsome!!!! Also that was a sick no look pass on Nielsens goal!
Roloson played well!
Was anyone else surprised as anything that Bruno dropped the gloves with Avery? Avery shoulda gotten his butt kicked later after he ran Roloson.
Wonder if anything will happen to the offical who was late
Sutton played pretty well
Hillen played very well!
Next game: Tomorrow @ 5 o’clock @ home vs Philly

First off hope everyone had a good day yesterday!
Now back to hockey! Tonight from the Garden our New York Islanders will pay a visit to the Queen and the Rangers. The game will be on at 7 o’clock on MSG + 2. No Jesse J for this game he was sent back to the bridge and Tim Jackman will be taking his spot in the lineup. Dwayne Roloson will be starting in net. Here is the Rangers expected line as per Chris Botta:
Prospal - Dubinsky - Gaborik
Higgins - Anisimov - Callahan
Avery - Drury - Lisin
Brashear - Boyle - Kotalik
Del Zotto - Girardi
Staal - Rozsival
Redden - Gilroy
Lundqvist
Motto for tonights game shut down Gabby and shoot high on the queen. 9/10 times that will get you a win!!

According to a recent newsday article the Islanders and SMG have come to a sublease that would give SMG a lesser role with the management of the Coliseum. Now it needs to be seen weather or not Mangano is ok with it.
I don’t know how this will affect the Lighthouse however I think this is good for the team because I think this means SMG is out of the way which means Wang will be making more money!
Post your thoughts in comments!
An excellent entry from Nick explaining everything:

Tonight from the Old barn in Hempstead the Islanders won a game for a change on home ice. It was before a modest crowd of approx. 10,000. Here are some of my notes:
Good game by Roli
Nice seeing JT get back on the scoresheet
Another good game by Comeau and nice seeing him get rewarded with the empty net goal! Great set up by him on JTs goal
Good Defense
Good shot by Hunter on the first goal
Next Game: Saturday 12/26 @ MSG Vs the Rag-holes

Tonight from the old barn in Hempstead Phil Kessel and the Toronto Maple-Leafs will be paying John Tavares and our New York Islanders a visit. Expect the same lineup as it has been recently with Roloson in net. Jackman is going to return after Christmas. I will be surprised if he hasn’t returned by Sunday VS Philly. Here is Torontos probable line-up courtesy of Chris Botta from pointblank:
Ponikarovsky - Stajan - Kessel
Blake - Grabovski - Hagman
Stempniak - Primeau - Kulemin
Wallin - Meyers - Orr
Komisarek - Kaberle
Beauchemin - White
Schenn - Finger (Exelby)
Gustavsson
Toskala
I think if we can shut down Kessel we have a good shot of winning tonight. But this is the Islanders were talking about here.
