Well as I am sure most of you know our defense isn’t exactly the healthiest group in the NHL. We have already lost Martinek for the year and Andy Sutton hasn’t played in over two weeks. Also Jack Hillen who has burst out on the scene recently isn’t 110% either. Also the next guy to be called up in Bridgeport Dustin Kohn is injured as well. So this got me thinking as to what d-man are available. Here is what I came up with:
1) Jason Cullimore-He is currently playing in the AHL and I think he wouldn’t be a terrible depth move. I mean Gervais isn’t that good also as much as I love him Witt sometimes has a hard time keeping up and Freddy Meyer just looks lost sometimes.
2) Cam Barker- Chicago is in a very bad place when it comes to the cap. Last time I checked they were either over the cap or very close to it. So that makes Barker a logical choice for a trade. He is a 23-24 yr old developing d-man at a 3million/year clip. He I believe is the #5 d-man with the Hawks. If we traded for him he would probably be in our top 2 def. in top 4 and his point shot would really help the powerplay. Also he has size! The key is what would the Hawks want back? If Snow would be willing to part with the people they want.
3) Joe Corvo- Botta mentioned this the other day. I know he doesn’t come back til February but who says we have to make all deals now? He would do wonders for our powerplay and like Barker has a nice shot.
4) I had been hearing that Timmonen on PHI might be available. Like the two above he is a great powerplay guy but hes been overtaken in Philly by both Pronger and Matt Carle. I would love to get a guy like him especially since he would probably come cheaper then expected because Philly is right up against the cap.
I think the most likely route for them is route one but I would hope it would be one of the other three but that is why I am not the GM.
If you can think of anymore post them in comments

According to Katie Strang from newsday Jack Hillen was doing a lot better today then yesterday after being hit in the skate with the puck in the first period last night. She said that he as well as Andy Suttons whereabouts I guess you can say for tomorrow nights game vs the Panthers will be decided after the morning skate. If neither of them can go there are slim pickings considering that Dustin Kohn the likely guy to be called up next is injured.
