DP update!

According to Katie Strang from newsday as well as Botta it is likely that netminder Rick Dipietro will see a game in net on the road trip after being recalled the other day and going through a vigorous 90 minute practice yesterday.

Suspicious happenings in County Government!

According to BD Gallof the new County Exec. is making a couple interesting hiring.  First is Michael Martino from the Long Island Press.  If you remember he is the reporter who first ran the story of the Lighthouse closing up shop back in Oct.  He was hired as his press secretary, since I don’t know much about him I really can’t get on him to much for this hire.  But the next one you bet I can.  He hired former newsday reporter Eden Laikin as his communications director.  If you read any of her work for newsday on the TOH or the Lighthouse you know why this is a joke hire.  Reading her stuff was like reading material from a high school paper or something.  It was horrible and she was terrible at communicating with readers as well.  I sent her an email once and the reply I thought was written by a 4 year old because almost every word was spelt wrong also there was bad punctuation to.  It leads one to speculate that maybe the BS job she did on the articles had something to do with her getting the job.  Maybe she knew that she was going too be hired if he won so she would do a half a$$ job to make sure she didn’t make the wrong people in the GOP machine mad.  Even though he has been in office for less then a week I already don’t like Mr. Mangano and he already has crap on his face from these suspicious hiring.

Also a couple of weeks ago Nick Giglia from lettherebelighthouse had an entry in which he followed the money.  He showed that many companies including some associated with Al “Hire my brother or else” D’amato were donating to Ed. Managanos campaign after election day and these companies would benefit should the Lighthouse fail.  Not talking about small donations here, some places were donating $10,000 or more.  Some shady activity no?  Does it surprise you though?  It doesn’t surpise me in the slightest after everything these people have put this project through.  Does anyone see it like I do?  I see it has these companies giving him money to go into office kill the project then open the bidding for the property back up so they can have a GOP cronnie build some stupid  mall there or whatever.  Not what Long Island needs but who cares right??  As long as the right peoples pockets get lined!  Give me a break!!  These people (The GOP machine) are a joke and a stain on this town and should they let politics get in the way of this project coming to fruition shame on them and that will lead to the ultimate decline of this town.  That is just my own opinion, you can put your in comments.

Tavares signs at Modells!

Yesterday for a crowd of over 400 people Islander star forward John Tavares signed autographs from approx. 6:02-7:30.  From what I heard he got through every person as well.  I personally waited 2 hours and 20 minutes to meet him, I heard people were getting there as early as 2:00 in the afternoon.  Holy crap!!  When the line got to big for inside they moved people outside and last night it was like 20 degrees out.  When I got there I head many Modells employees tell me that I should leave because I wouldn’t have a chance to get an autograph.  Well not only did I but like 50 or so people behind me got one as well.  I heard at times Tavares was signing 4 items per minute.  While the upper management at modells didn’t exactly specialize in customer service the reg. employees in there 20’s and what not were fun.  They wanted to order pizza for the people in line but the management people wouldn’t let them.  I think Modells was overwhelmed with such a big crowd that showed up.  If I had the chance to do it again I probably would because I had fun met new people and had quite a few laughs as well.  If you were there you know Sparky among other things was pretty funny.
