Post Game: Isles win 3-2 in a shootout!

Well before I get started I have something to say.  After that third period today every player on the Sabres needs to line up and kiss the a$$e$ of both refs for giving them that point.  Because the goal they waved off was clearly a goal according to replays.

Now onto the game

Tonight for a crowd of 13,365 Rick Dipietro, Kyle Okposo and the rest of our New York Islanders defeated the Sabres 3-2 in a shoot-out!  Here are some of my notes from the game:

-Great to get the win for Ricky in his debut!!  He gave a great kinda sorta speech in his post game interview which shows even more how much he loves the fans and the area.
-Was the third period not one of the worst called period you have ever seen?  I mean they waved off the goal because Sutton “touched” Miller then DP gets barreled over twice and there are no calls.  WTF????  I would like it if at least one Islander and possibly someone from management publically bashed the refs.  Who cares about a fine or suspension!!  It is the right thing after that terrible showing of theres in the third.  For the first time in my life I actually heard and participated in a chant against the refs.  You booo and stuff but we actually chanted “Refs Suck..Refs Suck..Refs Suck” among other things.  And in my opinion it was 110% deserved!
-Great seeing JT get back on the score board!
-DP looked good making some nice saves!  He killed me in the shootout though!
-Miller kept them in that game!  He was ungodly in that second period!  He played amazing!
-The Isles are having an open practice starting at 11am tomorrow at the Coliseum
-Also we are now in the final playoff spot!!!  Can you believe it?  I know I cant!!
-Also nice crowd tonight!!  A little to many Buffalo fans but overall the crowd was loud fun and really into the game!!  It was great!

If you have anything to add post in comments

Next Game: Monday 1/18 vs New Jersey @ 2 o’clock

Pre Game: Isles vs Buffalo! DP’s first home start since 12/08!

Tonight from the old barn in Hempstead Kyle Okposo and the Isles will be playing host to Ryan Miller and the Sabres.  In case you haven’t already heard Rick Dipietro will be making his first start at the Coliseum tonight since 12/08 VS the Maple-leafs!  Hopefully the good Ricky shows up and were able to keep our good mojo from the Det. game going vs a tough Buffalo team.  Here are the lines from the last practice according to Katie Strang from newsday:

Bailey-Tavares-Okposo

Moulson-Nielsen-Hunter

Comeau-Schremp-Sim

Bergenheim-Weight-Park

Sutton-Hillen

Streit-MacDonald

Meyer-Gervais

DiPietro

Roloson

Biron

I get that they want to stick with what has been working, but IMO Bergy and Sim have to switch spots.  Bergy has great energy and some what of a developing finishing touch.  While Sim does have some speed he just doesn’t have the finishing tough that Bergy does.  Plus with the speed of that line plus Schremps hands I think it would be very effective!!  Put your thoughts in comments!
