US men win 6-1 advance to gold medal game!

Today the US mens hockey team defeated Finland 6-1 advancing to the gold medal game on Sunday afternoon taking on the winner of Canada VS Slovakia.  It will be 3 o’clock on Sunday while the Bronze game is tomorrow night.

Unfortunatly the US women failed to grab gold last night losing to Canada 2-0.

Ovechkin pissed after last nights loss!

Below is a video of Alex Ovechkin putting his hand over the camera of someone who is trying to video tape him after Russias loss to Canada last night.

Mcd. signs 4 yr extension!

According to pointblank we signed Andrew McDonald to a 4 year extension.  Mcd. after his great play this year def. deserved it.  It is similar to what they did with Nielsen as Botta says.

US women go for gold tonight!

Tonight the US womens hockey team will play against Canada with hopes of winning to get the gold medal.  It will be on CNBC at 6 PM.  Tune in it will probably have a ton of scoring!

NBC slaps hockey fans in the face again!

Well yesterdays amazing USA Canada game wasn’t on NBC but on MSNBC which means some weren’t able to view it in HD.  Instead of showing the game between to bitter international rivals they showed bob sledding and stuff like that.  With all due respect to fans of bob sledding this game blew that away!!  They tuned in, in the last :45 seconds or so I heard right after the US stood on their heads defensively for over a minute straight.  Would it have killed them to cut their regularly scheduled programing short to show the last 3-4 min at least??  I don’t think so but I guess to them it would’ve.  If you see the entry below you will see that the game got 8.22 million viewers.  While I don’t know how many NBC got during that time I seriously doubt it was that much.

USA VS Canada almost breaks viewing record!

According to mult. news outlets approx. 8.22 million people watched the USA Canada hockey game yesterday making the game the second highest viewed program in the history of MSNBC behind election night coverage on 11/4/08 which got 8.23 million viewers.  To learn more view click the link below:

Ovechkin messes up Jagr!

Update: The videos been removed because of a copyright claim by the IOC.

In yesterdays Russia Czech. game Alex Ovechkin laid out Jagr.  Here is the hit if you haven’t seen it:

Remember him??

Mike Comrie is one lucky guy

Bruins get a dman! Sutton??

According to TSN’s Darren Dregger the Bruins have a deal in place to acquire a dman and it will be announced on March 1st.  It is unknown who the player they are getting is but it is possible that it is our own Andy Sutton.  I have read people think he is worth more then Hal Gil was a few years ago when he got a 2nd and 5th so I am thinking that means we could get Bostons first rounder plus a prospect or like a 3rd or 4th rounder.  That is just throwing stuff out there I honestly have know idea at all.  For all I know Sutton may not even be involved.

Khabibulin arrested!! Plus Caps raise ticket prices!

According to yahoo’s puck-daddy the Oilers goalie who is currently injured for the rest of the season was arrested on 2/8 on charges of impaired driving and speeding.  Not the wisest move from the veteran net-minder.

Also it will cost Capital STH 32% more to “rock the red” as they call it next season.

Gary Bettman talks Lighthouse on WFAN!

Today on WFAN NHL commissioner Gary Bettman spent some time with hosts Craig Carton and Boomer Esiason talking about the Lighthouse Project.  He criticized the town of Hempstead for taking so long and said if they had gotten done years ago that things would cost half the amount that they do now.  To listen to his interview on FAN click the link below:

There is one thing is that article that caught my attention.  It was the following quote by Mike Deery who is a spokesman for the Town of Hempstead:

“It was the Town of Hempstead that jump-started the Lighthouse Project, which was all but abandoned by the Lighthouse group, so if anybody is working to move this process forward, it’s the Town of Hempstead.”

Is he kidding me with that quote???  For him to say that it is the town board that are in the right here is absurd because if they had done their damn jobs instead of  shacking up with the party boss then the Lighthouse Group wouldn’t have as he said abandoned the project.  More incompetence from the TOH board!!  It is beyond me how these hacks continue to get reelected by such landslides!!  In my opinion it just shows that the people don’t care about the issues but only about the political parties their affiliated with.

Marriage Proposal gone wrong at the Ranger game!

Update: It was a hoax!!  See the link below!!  The article says the Rangers did that for in game entertainment!!  All I have to say is I want to meet the geniuses that came up with that cause in my opinion it was stupid!

http://blogs.northjersey.com/blogs/rangerrants/comments/rangers_were_in_on_fake_proposal/
I don’t know if you all saw this but at todays Ranger game a guy Nick proposed to his fiance.  Instead of getting a rousing Valentines day yes he got…check the video

Post Game: Isles lose 4-3!! That was awful!

Let me clarify by saying that third period was one of the worst periods we’ve played in some time.  Here are some of my notes as our New York Islanders fell 4-3 to the Ottawa Senators:

-That 4th goal is unacceptable!  How in the world do you let a guy stand in the crease by himself??  How the heck does that happen??  I mean pee-wee players know to clear the crease and yet you let one of their better players mind you Mike Fisher stand in the middle of the freaking crease waiting for the puck.  WTF????
-That third period brought me back to the beginning of the last two seasons.  Three goals in about 6 minutes.  Are you kidding!!
-Blake Comeau scoring 2 goals was the only bright spot to come out of that game in my opinion the rest was terrible.
-People are saying Mark Streits struggles can be attributed to him being in the Olympics.  What is going to happen when the Olympics pass and he is still struggling?  What is the excuse then?
-The powerplay remains basically un-watchable!

If you have anything to add post in comments

Next Game: Tuesday 3/2 @ Home VS CHI

Pre Game: Sens @ Islanders!

This evening Jason Spezza and the Ottawa Senators will be paying a visit to the old barn in Hempstead to take on Kyle Okposo and your New York Islanders.  I think you should expect to see Roloson in net because I don’t think they would play Biron to games in a row and DP is sick.  Otherwise I would look for Martin to possibly fight again with Carkner, Rutuu or Neil.  This will be a tough game seeing how Ottawa is hot as anything right now.  Hopefully were able to stay with them and get a tough two points.
