According to Botta Andrew McDonald will be out 4-6 weeks with a broken foot.  He was seen wearing a boot when leaving the Coliseum last night.  It wouldn’t surprise if he was done for the year.  Also Trent Hunter is out 1-2 weeks, Botta didn’t go into detail on his injury.  Dylan Reese who was acquired yesterday in exchange for Greg Moore will be called up to replace McDonald.

Also Garth Snow tells Katie Strang that he expects Rick Dipietro to play again this season.  In my opinion Garth could say that til the cows come home for all I care.  I won’t believe it til I see DP on the ice in uniform.  You remember last year when he was the backup and they said he wasn’t hurt to bad.  You see how well that turned out.

After not moving any goalie at the deadline speculation is rampant that the netminder is out for the rest of the season.  That honestly wouldn’t surprise me one bit

Also Ryan Whitney was traded to the Oilers for Lubomir Visnovsky.

Botta tweeted that Bergy just boarded a plane headed to ATL so it seems as though he wasn’t traded and multiple others say that the Isles played the hardline and they didn’t get anything done.  They were attempting to dump people like Sim and Tamby which hurt there chances at getting a deal done

In my opinion the biggest deal of the day was Joe Corvo to the Capitals.

According to newsdays Katie Strang Marty Biron and Dwayne Roloson are likely to remain Isles past the 3 PM trade deadline. 

Some more general NHL stuff:

Rumor that the caps are up to something involving dealing a winger
Raffi Torres to the Sabres for Paetsch and a second rounder

Biron or Roloson because when we first signed Biron it seemed all but certain he would be dealt at the deadline.  BD Gallof says a source of his told him that there have been alot of people jumping to conclusions because of inactivity by the Isles.

Chris Botta says were looking to unload players with Roloson to the Flyers but the Flyers can’t absorb the salary.

So far no really big deals have occurred but here is an update as to what deals have happened today:

The Rangers got Kris Newbury for Jordan Owens
The Coyotes got Wojetk Wolski for Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter.  (Mueller was drafted the same year as Okposo)
The Nucks got Scott Walker from the Canes for a 7th round pick
Aaron Ward went to the Ducks for Justin Pogge and a 4th round pick
Denis Seidenberg and a prospect went to the Bruins for Byron Bitz, Craig Weller and a second rounder
Martin Skuola went to the Devils for a 5th rounder
