Over the weekend the Barrie Colts and the Sudberry wolves continued their playoff series with the third game. Well this game had some interesting aspects:
1) There was a bench clearing brawl, when are these seen any more? Not often at all!
2) There was a one man fight with Kain Allicock going after Stefan Della Rovere.
3) Lastly forward Zac Rinaldo hit Wolves forward Marcus Foglino from behind. How fitting that Rinadlo is a Flyer prospect!
Here are videos of the first two incidents:

In my opinion Kain in the second video should be suspended because there was no need what so ever for what he did.
Thoughts and opinions?

According to yahoos puck-daddy this was the most watched hockey game in the last 30 years.
According to tsn’s Darren Dregger Fridays Canada Slovakia game had an avg. viewership of 9.7 million people topping out at 12.25 million. Also yesterdays gold medal game between the US and Canada had an average viewership of 16.6 million. All I can say is WOW!!

Today the US mens hockey team defeated Finland 6-1 advancing to the gold medal game on Sunday afternoon taking on the winner of Canada VS Slovakia. It will be 3 o’clock on Sunday while the Bronze game is tomorrow night.
Unfortunatly the US women failed to grab gold last night losing to Canada 2-0.

Update (11/4 @ 4:24 P.M.) : The culprit Michael Liambas has been suspended for the rest of the 09-10 OHL season including playoffs. I am happy to see that the OHL got this right!
http://www.ontariohockeyleague.com/ohl-ann…rangers-p138647
In case you don’t know what happened I will give you a brief summary below:
In an OHL game on Friday October 30th 16 year old defenseman Ben Fanelli of the Kitchener Rangers in the OHL was hit viciously from behind by Michael Liambas. The hit sent Ben very hard into the boards knocking his helmet on the ice. He stayed still for 40 minutes before being escorted off the ice on a stretcher and then was airlifted to the hospital where he remains in critical condition. The hit caused him to get a fractured skull and orbital bone as well as facial lacerations. I read that his mom was in attendance and passed out at the site of her injured son and had to be revived. To see the hit click the link below:

Now onto the culprit Michael Liambas!! He has been suspended indefinitely from the OHL. In case you don’t know he has a history of hitting with the intent to injure including hitting Islander star rookie forward John Tavares from behind in last years playoffs. This guy is 20 years old playing with teenagers. In the opinion of us here at savetheisles this man needs to be suspended 1 year minimum from OHL play and he can’t play professional hockey anywhere in the US or Canada during the suspension. To see the hit on Tavares click the link below:

Our hopes and prayers go out to Ben and his family!! We wish him a speedy recovery!!
Get well Soon!!
